Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

If you have any questions leave them in the comment section as i am much quicker at answering there, otherwise you can always send an email:

Self love Sunday

I think all days should be about self love and self caring. Not that that makes you a narcissist, but because you care about yourself and your needs, you know how to take care of yourself.
Self love is different for everyone and many neglect it. They neglect their own needs or feelings and just push through and dont care about themselves... it only lasts so long until those repressed emotions or needs come bubbling to the surface. Caring about yourself and taking care of yourself is vital for happiness and optimal health. Knowing what you need and listening to your body.
If you need rest, allowing yourself to rest. If you are feeling overwhelmed, learning to take it easy or slow down. Or even if you feel very bored of life or feel like you have to little to do, then learning to take action and find something new to do.
But also self care is about doing all the small things such as laundry, keeping your room and house clean, keeping yourself clean, eating right, taking medication. All these small things which if you feel overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, very sad or any other reason its easy to neglect. Self love isnt just about exercising and eating right, but about all the other things in your life.
Call your friend or family member and remind them that you love them, or if you are feeling lonely ask someone if they want to meet.
Clean up your room or house if its messy, because even if it takes energy and isnt fun to do, the satisfaction afterwards is worth it, as well as it can be calming when everything is clean.
Take your medication. Drink water. Make sure to sleep enough.
Take time to destress, log off and out of technology, read a book or write or draw or just sit and listen to music or sit in silence for a while. Take some time for yourself and just to think.
But also dont forget about body love and self love... which means loving yourself. Saying kind things to yourself, and being nice to yourself and your body. Compliment yourself, be positive about your body image and do nice things to yourself. You cant live your life hating your body as that is just draining of energy and takes too much out of your life as well as makes life more negative than it needs to be.
Self love isnt selfish, its necessary. Learn to take care of yourself, learn to be kind to yourself and learn that self care isnt always bubble baths and green tea, but also about the other things which you might be putting off and not wanting to do but in the long term helps with self love and caring for yourself!!

Below are some quotes/texts ive found which i loved and wanted to share!
And comment below what you think about self love/self care and how you take care of yourself?

"It may seem so far away from where you are now, but I promise you can get there.
It’s not going to be easy, but it’s going to be worth it.
Imagine waking up in the morning and not looking at your stomach and thighs in disgust but instead enjoying their softness and plushiness.
Imagine sitting down and instead of constantly shifting your shirt to mask your rolls you simply do not pay the slightest bit of attention to them.
Imagine being out with friends at a restaurant and ordering whatever you feel like eating without numbers rushing through your mind trying to figure out how many calories are in it.
Self love is nourishing both your body and your mind in a way that is sustainable and brings purpose and happiness to your life. There is no need to torture yourself by restricting everything you enjoy and cutting out all forms of happiness just to obtain a certain weight or dress size.
You can get there, you just have to try."

Your body is capable of almost anything if you treat it the way it deserves to be treated. You can climb mountains, run for miles and bend in ways that make people cringe, with the nourishment and love that you should always be striving to give it. Try loving your body, treat it as if it is a old friend, as if you want it to function into old age, and see what your body gives you back.
Bodies are made for love by Amy Kennedy source¨

"Even if you’re unemployed, even if you’re taking time off from school, even if nobody is calling and making plans with you, get out of bed, take a shower, put on clean clothes, wear some cologne or perfume, turn all the lights on, do some laundry, clean up a little bit.
Doing all this stuff causes a shift in your perspective. Do it in spite of your situation.
That’s the only way to create sustainable happiness, because if your behavior is dictated by your circumstances, you’re always going to be miserable. Don’t let the world determine your mindset. Let your mindset determine how you view the world."

  1. I find it really hard to feel confident and it sounds stupid but it's such a struggle to choose what to wear I'm going out shopping and it's an warm day and ive tried on sooooo many outfits and i just dislike them all. It's not so much to do with weight either, I hate other things about myself like my face just eurgh and my arms because they have hair on them ew and even regardless of that nothing looks good and stylish like other people and now I'm just really depressed and having a horrid day

    1. I know how you feel and even though I'm struggling, I'm feeling slightly better about myself. I'm trying to find clothes that I feel perfectly comfortable in like loose t-shirts and boyfriend jeans. Clothes weren't meant for you to fit into them but the other way round. Work on self-love everyday and maybe one day, you'll just magically feel better. It's not easy because you can't always control that feeling.. it just comes to you.

    2. Remember that hair on your arms is totally normal, cute, soft and hardly noticeable:) but you know, if the hair bothers you, you can always remove it

    3. I`ve got hair on my arms too - its natural and part of you! If it really bothers you - and I bet its not noticeable by anyone else but you xx you can remove it or lighten it if you feel it is too dark. But try not to let this get to you, everyone has hair on their arms. And I`m sure that you look just as good as anyone else when you go out, its just that you are criticising yourself so much :) Be kind to yourself and try to stop hating bits about you. You are YOU, you are unique and beautiful xxxx

  2. Self love and care is so important - that I have realised more and more just lately and I wish I had paid more attention to my own needs and well being before. I am so guilty of just burying my needs and likes, putting others first but I am learning to step back a little now. I make time for my morning coffee after I have completed any jobs around the house whereas before I just used to drink it "on the run" or not at all. Enforced bed rest has meant I have learnt and now appreciate the need to chill and relax and I have discovered new things that I didn't know I liked - like watching old films, reading books by a new author and colouring!
My favourite self care has got to be putting on perfume - over time I have accumulated quite a lot through Christmas and birthdays but never wore it - so now I can put on a different one for every day of the week. Wearing it makes me feel good.
Having a clean and tidy house is another self care I do try to keep up with as it makes me feel so happy and satisfied when I am done.
Love the quotes too - I wish things like this were available as fridge magnets or something.

  3. I really agree with this. Everyone needs a day to spend just on yourself, a day to focus on self love and caring for yourself and your body. It's a great goal to practice self love every day, but to think about it intentionally at least one day a week is super important! A lot of religions, like Christianity and Islam, have a holy day where you focus spiritually on what's good for you and resting, when you can focus on loving yourself. But even if you are not religious, it is still a great idea to pick one day a week to work on this!
