Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

What inspires you?

Today when scrolling through different social media i began thinking about all the pictures and quotes and such which doesnt inspire me in life. There are certain accounts or certain pictures or quotes which just dont bring anything positive into my life - hence why i dont follow them. I am sure they are inspiring to others, but not to me. We are all individuals and all get inspired in different ways, thats why there are so many different sources of inspiration!!

So what inspires me in life?

People who are happy... people who are positive and happy regardless of life situations. But not fake happiness... i mean we all struggle and have tough times and people who cant admit to struggling and just always fake positivity can get a little tiring. But thats just my opinion, but then again sometimes you just need to fake it till you make it and posting about negative thoughts or times just isnt necessary.

People who keep going no matter their struggle. Its so easy to give up - people give up far too easily in life. But those who fight through their struggles and dont give up are inspiring towards me. .Sometimes it means changing paths and finding a new way to reach your goal, but fighting through the hurdles and the obstacles is inspiring for me.

Admitting to mistakes and learning from mistakes. People who can admit to past mistakes or just reflect on past things is a source of inspiration for me. Sometimes you just got to look back into the past and realise that you have changed or your thoughts have changed or what you once thought was best or true might not have been.

People who make the best of any situation. It may be raining and cold and stormy... but the people who see the best and the positives in all situations are inspiring for me and remind me to always think and be positive!

Delicious food which isnt "perfect" is a source of food inspiration for me. The food accounts where the food is far too perfect and just unrealistic isnt inspirational for me... i mean sure it looks somewhat aesthetically pleasing, but am i willing to spend xxx euro on the food and ingredients and then spend several hours making the food and taking a picture of the food, no i am not. A 30 minute thrown together chilli with bread is alot more inspiring (food wise) for me than a 50 ingredient chia seed smoothie bowl with toppings that must have taken atleast an hour to place. hahaha. Maybe im just bitter and jealous? ;)

People who love their bodies and embrace it in all shape and size is inspiration for me. Self love and body love and complimenting yourself and others is inspiring. Daily ab pictures and low body fat percent is no source of inspiration for me at all.

Calisthenics and crossfit workouts are inspiring and seeing what the human body is capable of. Seeing videos of those types of workouts is one of the most inspirational workout sources for me and i wish i was better at body weight exercise or at crossfit workouts... both are functional workouts and THAT is inspiring. I mean great if someone can bicep curl 50kg but being able to do a bunch of calisthenics or complete crossfit games is alot cooler according to me, haha. And of course,  a little jealous over their talent!

Young people who achieve their goals. People who are 18 and have already done so much with their life or 16 years olds who publish a book or even 80 year olds who finally reach a goal of theirs that is very inspiring!

People who make a difference in the world and in peoples lives. There are so many out there and i cant name them all... but people who make a difference remind me why i also want to make a difference in the world. Just by blogging and trying to help those suffering with eatingdisorders i know i am making a difference and that is why i continue to blog!

I have so many other sources of inspiration in life, but i would love to know what inspires YOU? Whether its life inspiration or recovery inspiration.

Is it certain quotes or certain people or just a certain way of thinking.... what inspires you?

  1. haha, you;) I'm not joking. I'm mostly inspired by the acts or creations of other people, that I see mostly with my own eyes, as that is something true and close I can grasp

  2. I'm inspired by holistic health and making your body as healthy as possible. I'm working on going vegan, my parents are still iffy on the topic but it's what will make me happy.

  3. ain't got a character count for that!

joking :) though i get inspired by many things indeed. i'd say everyone who enjoys their lives, just as it came to them and considers themselves happy with it is inspirational. everyone that gets up. my parents- because of current struggles with my RED i got to know them more as a person, and i am amazed by how awesome they are as an individuals :)
-i'm too philantropic to find a human being that doesn't inspire me by mere breathing xD (but there are things i don't like about them and dont find that good of course)

simlicity of everyday life, hope, everything can inspire me... even my own achievements! just the thing i am still alive and recovering.. i wish we all could be content with our progress :)

  4. Down to earth, happy people that make the best of their lives and are able to share simple pleasures with others. I find inspiration in my own achievments as well as in others - it encourages me to carry on. Same with recovery accounts - to learn how a person has battled through successfully is awesome. I love inspirational quotes and how you, Izzy have inspired me over the time I have been reading your blog. I have learnt to be more positive in life and found out what makes me happy.

  5. What inspires me? I guess it has to be happy, positive people who never give up and despite lifes ups and downs always strive to make the best of things/their situation. People that don`t allow lifes pressures to bog them down and instead remain optimistic about their future.
I love reading recovery stories as it gives me renewed faith that things can get better for me too and also because I admire those that have struggled and succeeded in their goals.
People who do good works for their community inspire me also because they are selflessly trying to make the world a better place for others, as do charity workers and fundraisers.
Inspirational quotes are great too and they spur me on for the day. And of course this blog! You have inspired me so much Izzy to do so many things and have helped me to overcome quite a few battles/problems in my life xxx
