Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

If you have any questions leave them in the comment section as i am much quicker at answering there, otherwise you can always send an email: lifewithoutanorexia@hotmail.com

Needing extra food and rest

Hello :)

The infection that my body is fighting off has definitely kicked my body our of balance. Extra tired and extra hungry which I guess isn't so strange considering that my body is working extra hard to fight off the infection. It's so important to listen to your body and respect the times when you need more rest or more food, pushing your body isn't worth it.

This morning my alarm went off at 6.15am and I was half awake but decided to hit the snooze button which lead to me sleeping until 8.50am when I got up, started making coffee only to end up getting back into bed and sleeping until past 10am when I got up for real. Usually I wake up at 6am with lots of energy but at the moment  my body just needs more rest and I need to respect that, but also that I need more food. I have no idea how much I'm eating but definitely more than normal, and no that's not a problem... that's what my body needs!

The rest of the day has been spent in school, from 12 until 4pm I sat reading about hormones and looking over my previous notes. I only have 3 more lectures left of my fysiologi course before I get my Christmas break until I have my fysiologi test in january!

At the moment I'm looking forward to heading home. Looking forward to spending time with my family, looking forward to not eating on my own anymore, looking forward to having a fridge and freezer filled with food (hahah) and a variety of food not just basics!, looking forward to working out with my sister, looking forward to going for walks with my family, looking forward to meeting my friends from Stockholm again.... all of these are my motivation to get through the next 3 days hahah!! I love studying and school but I must admit I need a break from studying right now!!! A few days with absolutely no study over Christmas!! But for now it's full focus on study and revision until Friday when I take a few days off!!

How am I feeling otherwise? I'm feeling positive and happy, mostly! It's only a few days left of the year so making the best of them! And I hope you are all doing the same thing!!! (P.s writing this on my phone so no idea why the above was bolded!)

Are you looking forward to Christmas? What plans do you have for Christmas? :)

  1. Hello Izzy!

My plans for Christmas are similar to yours, as I only have 3 days left of school as well. I just want to be able to get all of my finals done and over with so I don't have to study anymore.
My Christmas plans involve spending time with my family, especially my dog. I never have to travel to far for Christmas, but I'm sure when I head off to College/University that will change. I'm looking forward to actually enjoying Christmas with my family this year, because my eating disorder has controlled me for so long that there has been no enjoyment on holidays. I'm ready to change that though.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

  2. Hey Izzy, do you have an IG or snapchat you'd be okay with sharing? Because if so I'd love to follow you. If not, I totally respect your privacy.

  3. It doesn't really feel like Christmas is this weekend, it seems to have come round all of a sudden! But no doubt once the day itself is really here I will be in the mood for it :) I`m all prepared apart from last minute food items which I can`t get until closer to the day. We are having family to dinner on Christmas day and usually manage to get out for a walk and some fresh air at some point in the day - then it is watching TV and eating chocolates! Boxing day is a similar thing but minus all the cooking - left over Christmas dinner with chips and pickles.
I am looking forward to family time and hopefully relaxing! There are also a couple of new films on TV that I haven't seen yet so I`m looking forward to those.
I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family Izzy and enjoy the much needed break from your studies!

  4. Just arrived home from university! I live in the Southern Hemisphere so the sun is shining now and I might head to the beach tomorrow. So good to see my family and have lots of fresh fruit everywhere!

  5. I'm looking forward to Christmas, even though I haven't done any shopping yet :/ Christmas day is my one day off from work, so it's going to be great having a whole day with nothing to do except hang out with my family and relax. I work late on Christmas eve and early on boxing day (yay mental health field with its 24-hour-a-day shifts! Lol), so you better believe I'm going to soak up every free hour I have! I have spent Christmases with tons of gifts and people, and I've spent Christmases with nothing in homeless shelters; today I value and am grateful for my many blessings - the people I love and who love me back. This year, I get to spend the day with what I value most, and I can't wait.
