Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

Questions/topic ideas

Excuse my absence of blogging, there just hasn't been much to write about as well as no energy to write. An hour after writing my post on Monday I began to feel even worse. A pounding headache, nausea and stomach pain as well as pain and tiredness in my whole body.  So I ended up staying home and spent the day sleeping or watching series, and that continued yesterday as well - apart from when I went to the store to buy clementines and nuts and diet coke (the necessities when sick.) After 48 hours of rest and lots of sleep I am feeling alot better today, but to stay on the safe side it's another day at home with rest and maybe some studying.  I guess all the stress and things going on in my life lowered my immune system so it couldn't fight off the cold, but now I'm feeling better and hopefully back to lectures and university tomorrow!!! :)

But as it will be full focus on studying as well as other things such as apartment viewing, moving, meeting my aunt during the weekend, then my test and my birthday and the following weekend my mum, dad and half brother will be in gothenburg so basically 2 weeks where I will have alot going on. So I thought it's best that you request or suggest topics or if you have questions, so that I can schedule some posts and just post things which are relevant and then some life updates when I have time :)

So ask your questions or suggest topics and I will try to schedule posts for the upcoming 2 weeks!! :)

  1. I have a question, which I know is personal, so it is okay, if you won't answer it. :) But my question is: When did you start having your periods again after gaining weight?

    1. Ill answer this here instead of a post, haha :) I got my first period back when i was around BMI 17 but then it took a year of maintaining a healthy weight at bmi 18.5/19 until i got my period back again and then it was irregular for about 2 years where i had it either once every 3 months or twice in a month. And then i began on birth control and since taking birth control - and have since stopped taking it, i still havent gotten my period back. But to answer your question, i had to maintain a healthy weight for about a year until my period came back.

  2. What classes should you take to become a health coach and your passion about it. Also, feeling confident again in recovery after a relapse.

  3. Have you ever considered joining an exercise class or do you prefer to workout to your own agenda and your own pace? Do you change your diet at all when you are running or training for one of the runs you do? What is the longest distance you have ran? Have you ever considered running a marathon? Do you do the runs for yourself or do people sponsor you for charities?
How did you discover you were good at and liked running?

  4. Since becoming a vegan has your views about society changed? Do you see things that you weren't aware of before? Does it frustrate you that so many people are not climate/animal cruelty aware?
Have you thought about joining any "against animal cruelty" groups?
If you could list three things that are the best about being vegan, what would they be?
And three worst things (if there are any)?
What is your favourite food now you are eating plant based all the time?

  5. What are your favourite vegan instagram accounts?? I'm always looking for new food/lifestyle ideas :)

  6. It would be helpful if you could write a post on eating through others as I have found myself doing it more and more just recently. If I really want to eat a certain food I keep putting it off and end up giving it or making it for others to eat instead. Or if I like a certaing food I will give it away or get it for others to eat. Why do I do this? Its as if I really can`t bring myself to eat the food myself, although I really want to.

  7. Hi Izzy - I find your posts on veganism really interesting. So something I have wondered is what difference would it make if we were all to consume less meat/ dairy? Would it have an effect on how these things are produced?

  8. A post about how to reduce your carbon footprint would be good. I already recycle, use less plastic bags but would like to do more.

  9. On application forms for employment it sometimes mentions medical history. My question is do you write that you have had/got an ED? Is it best to be completely honest or is it wise to withhold this information?
Have you ever been in this situation regarding application forms for various things that require a medical history?

  10. I have noticed there has been a bit of an "heads up" about EDs occurring at a younger and younger age. What are your views on this? Do you think society is to blame for the rising numbers of EDs in all ages - or not?

  11. A post about what are your favourite vegan foods would be nice along with some more simple recipes? Also have you discovered any "new foods" since becoming vegan?

  12. Hey Izzy,
Could you please write a post about the feeding tube and what to expect after getting tube fed?

  13. Can you post another Recovery Successes and Positives of the week?
