Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

If you have any questions leave them in the comment section as i am much quicker at answering there, otherwise you can always send an email: lifewithoutanorexia@hotmail.com

Ask me questions!

Recently I have gotten a bunch of questions and comments and  I know I have missed many of them. So I thought you could ask me questions you have, or of you have made a comment and I haven't replied to just reask and hopefully this time I'll answer! And I know I didn't answer all the questions from the previous time. ... hahah, so I might go back and look at those questions and see which ones I missed. ... or you can just ask the questions again!

I'll be busy all day moving so ask away all day and then hopefully tomorrow I'll answer in a post! And also answer some of the questions in previous posts which I haven't gotten around to answering :)

You can ask any questions you want (well you can ask anything, doesn't mean I'll answer everything! :) ) or if you need advice etc

Have a lovely 1st of April and make this month awesome!

  1. Do you eat differently now when you buy your own food? How do you workout and how often and long?

  2. Do you ever feel guilty for eating too much? Or do you ever eat even though you are not hungry... just because you want more because it tastes good. I do and it feels like I should not people always say to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full, but what happens if you want more just because I it tastes good but you're not hungry? What do you do?

  5. This is perfect timing for me! What I would like to ask if you could recommend an alternative non dairy milk that goes well in tea and can also be drunk warm? I have tried soya - which definitely did not agree with me, oat - which was nice but gave me awful tummy pains and just recently coconut - which again did not agree with me. I have had hazelnut before but have only ever had that cold but I really liked that, the only trouble is that it now has sunflower lecithins in it which I cannot have. So I`m rather at my wits end. I am just about tolerating the lacto free milk at the moment but have to limit my intake as I cannot tolerate too much, so what I really need is a good alternative milk as a replacement. Any ideas? Thanks ever so much (())

  6. What exactly is a fear food? How does a food become one and why?

    1. I'm not exactly the best at explaining things but I'll try :) A fear food is literally a food that someone is afraid to eat. Primarily it's because they're afraid of what the food will do to them. Normally people,ie anorexics, gradually stop eating the food like chocolate for example. They don't just wake up one day and decide I'm going to stop eating chocolate. Gradually as they start to lose more weight yet gain more disordered thoughts, people with eds begin to think of foods like chocolate as fattening because of the fat content and stuff like that. It's less of a conscious choice and more of a progressive thing. Hope this helps! :)

  7. What are the protein puddings you have? I have always wondered what they were exactly, also raw food balls - what are they made of? And when you say in your posts sometimes that you had natural sweets - what are they?

  9. Hello there Izzy!

Thank you so much for helping others by your blog. The blog is awesome really!

I have a question I would appreciate if you answered, but I also understand if you don't have time.

Anyways, to make a long story short I used to have anorexia and then binged myself up to a normal weight without any balance at all. It all went way too fast and also too far and I got to a weight that I doubt was my natural "set point"(if this exist?) and did not feel comfortable at all. I also had no good relationship with food still so when I started working out again I also started losing weight. I've lost a lot of weight and now I'm right under the normalweight mark and trying so hard still to find balance. I don't wanna go back to the anorexia and lose more weight but I don't wanna gain a lot either. I just wanna have a stabile weight where I are or maybe + 1-2 kg .

My biggest challenge is the fullness feeling. There was a long time ago I binged and I would not say that I have that problem anymore but I often do feel like i'm overeating. Always when I try to listen to my body I in the end get too full since that is the only fullnessclue I've got and I feel like i have overeated. If I don't get to that stage where I have that veryvery-full feeling, I keep thinking about food, longing for next meal and i'm not sure if its mentally or physically. But it's like I have some instinct in me that says too keep eating til I feel almost stuffed and then I don't wanna eat more and I don't think more about food but I know it's not normal and get a lot of anxious. For a week ago I decided to try eating like that anyway since I'm now not normalweight and see if that makes me gain weight or if it maybe actually is my true fullnessfeeling that I missjudge as unnormal. But the thing is that after I started eating like that I've counted that my "apetite" takes me to between 2400-2800 each day! Which I defiently know is too much for me and that I'm probably overeating now. I'm very afraid to keep overeating since I don't wanna gain to much weight. I just want balance. I'm very confused.

I work out around 6 times a week, 3 times strengthtraining and 3 times running (not that long around 3-6 km). But it can vary, sometimes more, sometimes less. I love working out but are also afraid not doing it you know for the weight... I so damn bad just balance.

    Do you have any advice?

    Thank you.

  12. Recently, I've been having trouble sleeping :/ Some nights I just can't fall asleep, and any little noise wakes me up. I've tried Vitamin D drops, melatonin, turning off electronics early, and reading before going to bed. Nothing seems to help. Do you have any ideas? And some nights when I can't sleep, the anxiety about feeling tired the next day and worrying about all the things I won't be able to do just keeps me awake longer :/ I'm not sure what else to do!! Thanks :)
