Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

Love what you do, and do what you love

Good morning :)

Even if i think that i have alot of work and studying to do, and that it takes up all of my time, i actually love what im studying. I find it so fascinating and interesting and am so happy that i get the chance to study nutrition and to learn more about the body and nutrition.  Now when i listen to certain podasts which talk about the body and cells and amino acids, muscles and other things in the body i can really understand and on a cellular level as well. When they talk about proteinsynthesis or the processes that amino acids go through in the body or how the liver works and breaks down or changes different molecules. I find it so fascinating and actually love what i am studying - despite the work load.

And like my proffessors say, I am learning this information for the future, and even if i wont remember every detail, i have an understanding. I am not studying or learning for a test, i am learning for my future career.

And that is exactly what i am doing... in highschool alot of the learning was just to pass the test, and sure i need to pass my tests, assignments and examinations in university. But now its also information i need to know for my future career, information i need to understand, be able to explain and remember. Not just study for a test and forget all the information.

That was what made me happy this morning,  that i have the chance to study, that i learn new and interesting information!! And i try not to complain about my work load - stating is not the same as complaining - because i have choosen to study and that means accepting and working through the assignments and tests.

I think that if you truly arent happy with what you are studying in university... change. I know in many universities you have to pay... and yes that sucks if you drop out. But i think that if you dont know what to study... then dont study. Wait, do some work or travelling... figure out what you enjoy, or take some courses or other things you can do. And if you are studying but dont enjoy it and know that it is not something you want to work with... then drop out, take a break or change to what it is you want to study. Life is too short to waste it doing something you hate or dont like. I mean university is hard enough as it is, why make it harder by studying something you really dont like or doesnt interest you?

Though thats just my opinion. Some would say just study anyway, its better to have a degree in something than nothing at all. But i think its just a waste of time, when you could be out trying to figure out what it is you really want to do.

Anyway, that was just my morning thoughts this morning, and  making sure to think positive :)

Remember to take charge of your life and make it as good as possible!!! :)

  1. Hey Izzy! Quick question for you. I have been running for the past few months, and I am noticing that I am getting a bunion! I know this is a strange question but do most runners have one?? My shoes are Nike and they are not tight at all so I don't know if thats just normal or...??

    1. Ive never actually heard of that before. It's possible it could come from your shoes or your running technique, but I'm not sure... maybe check your normal daily sort as well? If maybe they are the ones that need to be changed, or maybe your running shoes aren't the right ones for your feet, even if they aren't tight. I don't know if this problem is "normal" or not wuth running, but check shoes and running technique :)

  2. When you find something that interests you and you enjoy the work load doesn't seem so bad, because you are not struggling to commit to something that really doesn't hold any enjoyment for you.
I think this is a huge positive to have whilst studying and I am happy for you that you have found something that you obviously enjoy!
Hope things continue to go well for you and you can ofcourse share some of the things you learn - I think it would be very interesting to read

    1. Excatly, its interesting and even if its alot, it is still something i find fun. :) At the moment its basically repeating the same thing, but in 2 weeks time ill learn more about all the different macronutrients and micronutrients, so ill share some information about that then :)
