Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

If the whole world was blind, who would you impress?

Yesterday I began thinking about the quote, If the whole world was blind who would you impress?

So for a moment, don't focus on your body.  Instead focus on YOU. Who are you? What are you good at? What are your strengths? What personality or character traits can you maybe improve on? What about yourself do you like (appearance not included )

Who are you without your body. Because your body does not define you. You are more than your body. You are your brain, your personality, your interests, your hobbies. People may see your body first but inevitably you are judged by your character and personality.

So now.... say 5 things you like about yourself non appearance based. 2 things you could improve on and 2 things you are good at.

For me....
1) I am good at listening
2)I am good at giving advice
3) I am non judgemental
4) I am patient and understanding
5) I am somewhat intelligent

2 things I could improve on:
1) I am quote sarcastic
2) I'm not so great at answering the phone or messages

2 things I am good at;

1) giving advice
2) learning quickly

Take time and think about YOU,your personality, your character... you are not just your body. Your body is the "machine" that gets YOU from place to place. You can fix your outsides all you want but sometimes all you need to do is fix your insides and change your mindset.

  1. this is certainly thought provoking - thanks for posting it

  2. I reflected on this as I was falling asleep last night.

In my recovery from ED, one area where I have come a long way is in improving my "self talk." I think part of anorexia is the desire of becoming invisible or of wanting people who do see me to pity and envy me at the same time. I had so much self-hate going on and this also led to me being angry with the world.

Last night I realized that if the whole world were blind, other people would be able to still feel my warm hand holding theirs, my caring voice, the peaceful vibe that I've been told I give off. They would be able to hear my words of encouragement. Hopefully they could feel my kindness and I could still bond with people.
