Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

Focus on what makes you happy

Sometimes life can feel like too much and it can bring you down. It is then that you need to just focus on the things that make you happy. Focus on putting a smile on your face, and be happy, whatever that means to you. Sometimes you need to take some time for yourself, recharge and feel happy in your alone time. Sometimes you need to call your friends and  go out dancing or go for a walk or just go to a cafe and sit and drink coffee, or invite them over brunch or dinner and enjoy a good time with friends. Other times what makes you happy and makes you feel better is a movie night with your family/siblings/partner, or maybe just going for a walk with a good podcast or some music. Or maybe you need to sit down and paint or play music or sit and write... whatever makes you happy and makes you feel better!

Below are some of the things that make me feel happy!!

My dog. Just seeing her always makes me so happy, its like whenever you cuddle dogs its hard to not feel atleast a little happy. (As long as you arent allergic or scared of them!)

Good music. Just lying in bed and listening to music.

Going for walks, runs or going to the gym.

Buying myself my favourite food and making a delicious pick and mix snack! Even if it means snacks for lunch or dinner, its my favourite.

Watcing my favourite series or a good film.

Taking a long warm shower or bath.

Drinking delicious drinks meaning vanilla caffe latte, energy drinks, cola zero etc

Cleaning my room - it always seems to make me feel better, it might be the fact that my room always needs to be cleaned!

Looking back at old GOOD pictures which bring back good memories. Though this can also have the opposite effect as you begin feeling bad for feeling bad or you start to miss the past and the present feels even worse. But if you make a folder with some of your favourite, happy memories and pictures that can HELP you and make you feel better!

Bake something delicious!!! It takes your mind off of things and the end result will be awesome :)

What makes YOU feel happy? What do you do when you need to cheer up?

  1. Today I did a lot of sorting and getting rid of things I don't need! :) It's a good feelin giving to others (charity) + clearing out space.

Listening to great music and being outdoors/ walks in sunshine makes me happy! Xx

  2. What if something that is unhealthy makes me happy? (not talking about food, but actions)

    1. Well does it really make you happy? And if you know they are unhealthy then why do them? If your goal is to focus happiness and feeling better then doing unhealthy actions isn't going to help that. It means you have to do other things that make you feel happier.
