Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

Getting to know my readers!!

It was a long time ago since i did this last time, where i got to know my readers more!!

I am quite an open book on here! What i do, my thoughts etc but i find it really interesting to learn more about others! One of the things i love most about blogging, apart from of course helping people, is learning/getting to know new people. Making new connections and contacts!! I find it super cool how people from all over the world read my blog and also then making contact with some of you, that is definitely cool :)

Soo..... I would like to know more about YOU!!

Which country do you live in?
Your age?
What are your hobbies/favourite things to do?

And and as much or as little information about yourself as you like :)I.e tell me your favourite colour... do you have any pets? What are your goals? How did you find my blog? Do you have any brothers or sisters? What countries do you want to visit? What countries have you visited? Your favourite films/series/books? etc etc etc

And also, feel free to add some constructive critisizm about my blog :) Positives or negatives are both helpful so that i can improve! (And i am aware that my grammar needs to improve... someday i might do that! XD)

I think someone posted a link to one of you blog posts once, and after that I was hooked!
I am an only child, and am super introverted so I think it works out fine ;)

  2. I am 19 years old and I live in a town in Surrey, just south of London Uk.

I first came across your blog when I was diagnosed with anorexia back in January this year. I posted a comment a while ago about how I became anorexic after my first serious relationship went wrong, but since my diagnosis I have improved so much, gaining weight, eating fear foods and I even managed to go travelling for four weeks with a group of strangers who knew nothing about my eating disorder.

I would like to say thank you Izzy for helping me so much with my disorder- I'm sure I'm not the only person here who comes to your blog daily (even when I was travelling) just for a little reassurance and to realise that its Ok to eat and be happy. Thank you so much :*

  3. Hi Izzy!!! I just turned 19 and live in the U.S.! I haven't been to any other countries yet but I'm starting my second year of college this year and I would love to study abroad! I've always wanted to go to Italy so hopefully they have a program there that I can do one day!! Plus the weather's probably better! I live in Ohio and it's kind of like Sweden but more extreme. We can have averages in the high 80s F in the summer and -50 F windchill in the winter...yeah walking to class is fun :p My favorite color is blue and I love to run and just hang out with friends. I also love to eat and cook although I don't cook as much as I'd like to. I'm completely obsessed and infatuated with peanutbutter :p It's a little bit of an issue haha but I've been working on it :p I also really love to read! I've read some Jodi Picoult books like you and have recently finished reading the divergent series. Hmm... what else. I wear sports clothes all the time because they're just so comfy! I have a little obsession with sport bras:p But I also love to dress up and wear dresses and skirts. I think there to be comfy.

I think I found your blog by searching for how to deal with weight gain but it was over a year ago so I don't really remember. Personally I like your blog and don't really have any negative criticisms about it :) I was wondering if you could do a few more recipe posts though?? Or what you think of America or what you know about it and the different states? I know that we don't learn a lot in school about most of the smaller European countries so I was kind of wondering what you know about us:p

And don't worry about your grammar! :p It's fine and it adds more personality. And when you think of it, half of the people who speak english don't know how to speak and they've been speaking it since birth!

Glad to hear that you're feeling better! :)

  5. Hi, my name is Teagan and I live in South Africa. I cam across your blog at the end of 2013/ beginning of 2014 as a kickstart for recovery.
I am definitely a dog person- not too fond of cats.
I have an older sister doing her first year at university. I turn 18 at the end of this month and in my last year of school- I end this December.
I speak three languages- English, Afrikaans and a bit of French.
Hobbies: reading, cooking omelettes (only thing I can cook well), gym, psychology, movies, shopping and I want to take up surfing.

  6. Hey Izzy,
I'm a follower originally from Serbia who is though hungarian and lives in Denmark :D I'm 21 years old, finishing my bachelor next year.
I found your Instagram and blog a bit more than a year ago, and was a huge help for me! Especially your positive way of thinking. I've been in a battle with bad thought and tendencies regarding my ED for about 7 years, but never really hit the deepest point, and I think I managed to turn my life into a healthy way without that. Now I'm working out, having a healthy lifestyle and enjoying my everydays in my body (and having less and less bad days) :)
Keep up the positive vibes, there is nothing you should change about your blog xx

  7. Hey Izzy, I've been following your blog for a while now. Probably since 2013. I found you when I was working with other girls with anorexia and was having a really hard time distancing myself from my disorder. I'm 25 (so old-haha) and love your blog. I'm planning on applying to graduate school, and have come such a long way since 2013. Your blog is great the way it is-maybe interesting to have a post about how you feel about eating disorder statistics. Like I read somewhere only 30%of people with anorexia ever recover. Totally disheartening :(
Hmm. About me...I love to cook and look up new recipes, I like going to farmers markets and getting fresh cut flowers and hosting fancy dress up parties. My favorite book is Anna karenina and Harry potter series. I like the movie clueless and also legally blonde. I'm from the US. Mainly I study preparing for grad school-but lIke to study in gardens or art museums. So much prettier. Oh-and LOVE shopping. Haha. I mainly wear dresses. Anyway-your blog has been a great help. Xo-S

  12. I'm starting to think I might be your oldest reader, lol - I'm 32, live in Canada, and have read your blog for a few years. I struggled with anorexia from ages 14-28 or so (and yikes, girls - seek help early!!!! There is nothing cute or desirable about being a full-grown adult with the stunted mentality of a teenager and the body of a decrepit old lady, and the older you are/the longer you stay sick, the harder it is to recover and reverse the damage), and also many years of addiction. I love Izzy's blog because I believe it is one of the few out there that portray a picture of REAL recovery. Not only because you include the ups AND the downs, but because you promote the idea that true recovery means a COMPLETE divorce from food obsessions, restrictions, and the like. I absolutely hate it when people in recovery say that, even after getting healthy, an ED is something that "never really leaves you" or that it is something that will "have to be managed" for the rest of your life. No! It IS possible to have a full recovery, to get to a point where ED thoughts are non-existant, where you can't even relate to the sick girl (or boy) you once were. Izzy lives this, as do I, and this is something I never thought possible, but it IS! I don't even have interest in anything ED-related anymore, but Izzy's blog is an exception because I'm just so happy there is someone out there spreading the right kind of message about what recovery really is.
Anyway, to some of your questions...: I am a dog person 100%, and have an adorable little puppy of my own. I love earthy colours, nothing too bright or eye-catching. I would love to travel the whole world, but so far have only been to the US (only because it's right next door, lol), Scotland, and England. I love reading, running, and yoga. I work in a high-stress field (with people struggling with mental illness, addiction, homelessness, and working in the sex trade) and I love what I do but self-care is an absolute must, especially with my history of anxiety- and depression-based disorders. I have a fantastic family and three siblings who were instrumental in my long-term recovery. I like my life, and none of it would have been possible if I hadn't finally stepped up and taken responsibility for my own health and happiness. I do believe we (with EDs or addiction-based disorders) are very lucky, because we have the incredible fortune to have a choice in our recovery. It is actually within our power to decide how sick or how healthy we want to be. Not many illnesses offer that possibility, and I'm grateful that I, finally, made the right choice.
Thank you Izzy for your continuing contribution to promoting real, authentic recovery to those struggling today.

I became sick with ED, self harm and depression ten years ago, got treatment in Sweden and so on. Now, I'm experiencing my worst relapse yet and have recently decided to fight to become healthy once and for all! I found your blog, searching for fellow recoverers :)

  16. Helloo!
My name is Johanna, I'm 15 years old and also swedish! I live in Falun, Dalarna.
My hobbies are; Reading and writing, strength training, running (even though I kind of suck at it xD), watching TV series and being too nerdy about Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Mortal Instruments and Orange Is The New Black.

I have a younger brother and a cat named Luna :)
I want to write when I grow up! The ultimate dream is to be an author, but I'm thinking about a journalist career firsthand. I would love to live in England, but I don't know.
I love languages, chocolate, tea, coloring books, my friends, long walks with a podcast in my headphones, traveling.. Ice cream 😎

I found your blog in february 2015. I've been struggling with my eating disorder since november 2012, it went up and down until autumn 2014 when everything got worse and I weighed less than when I was 9.
In december 2014, I made the choice to recover for real this time, and.. I did. It's been a difficult spring but I actually made it. Today, I am healthier than I've been in a long, long time.
Your blog really helped me in the start of my recovery. I spent hours just reading your posts and you're one of my biggest inspirations. I mean it!

    I have a blog too; www.thisisjustavoice.blogspot.com

  17. Hello! My name is Laura. I'm 22 and I live in England. I was diagnosed with anorexia around 3 years ago, and I have been in recovery for about 1.5 years again after a major relapse and several smaller ones. I still count calories (I eat around 2300 a day), and I am weight restored, however I am trying to let my body find its 'healthy set point', which is proving to be quite challenging for me. I am trying to accept my body the way it is, and I'm not sure if my weight has stabilised yet (I have a BMI of 19.3), but I am determined not to relapse again.

I enjoy reading, watching series's, skiing. I would consider myself to be mainly introverted, but I do enjoy being with people and do crave being around people at times. However I also need my space and enjoy time alone. You have helped me see that this is alright Izzy, so thank you!

I have a younger brother who is 20 and away at university. I have recently graduated from university and have since moved back home. I have a temporary full time job as a waitress at a cafe near my home to save up money to go travelling after Christmas!

Thank you so much for your blog izzy, it has, abs still does, help me so much!
