Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

If you have any questions leave them in the comment section as i am much quicker at answering there, otherwise you can always send an email: lifewithoutanorexia@hotmail.com

Dear Izzy, i don`t understand why people in recovery from an ED often eat lots of the questbars. It seems to me to belong to that kind of "healthy eating" which is the result of an ED. It is one form of orthorexia, just to eat things that are suppposed to be overhealthy ike stevia, ricecrackers etc.
Why do you eat them? If its just bc they are "so smetty" - a REAL chocolate bar would be a lot better than this gluten-sugarfree stuff. If you do it bc of the protein: normally you can fill your need of protein with food, even as a sportler.

I eat questbars because they are delicious... i dont care about the carbs, protein, fat in them... I mean i eat chocoalte because its yummy, just like everything else i eat. I eat it because i like it, not because its 'healthy'. I mean spinach is one of the healthiest foods there are, but i hate it and wont eat it.

I dont eat foods like sausages, not even quorn sausages because i dont like them. I dont count calories or macros, so i have no idea about how muich protein i eat, and i dont eat food thinking 'i need to eat lots of protein'. WHat i eat is because i like it.... and i often eat salted nuts, and salted ricecakes... are they considered healthy? Maybe not, but that doesnt really matter, because i like salted nuts and salted ricecakes! I dont restrict or deprive myself of anything... there is no point in that. Moderation of everything is key.

When i eat food, i dont see it as 'healthy or unhealthy' i see it as food... food which i like or dont like.

    1. I cant even remember!! I mean i have days wherei eat more out of boredom or actual hunger, but i dont classify them as binges. As they arent uncontrollable, and id ont feel guilty afterwards.

  3. It is so inspiring to read your posts from a few years ago and to read your posts now. You seem so much stronger and happier, and it's obvious that you've worked really hard to get to this place. Thanks also for being so generous with sharing your experience. It has helped me with some unhealthy thought patterns.

Can I ask how you feel when you read posts from when you were sick? Is it like reading another person's writing, or do you still 'get' how you felt that way, even though you don't feel that way anymore?

  4. Thanks for your answer. Maybe i am just kind of bothered by questbsars bc in tumblr a LOT of the "recovering" girls there consume it every day and day and they are not cheep....

    Just like her:

and to ME it seems to be quite ed.

    Hmmmm.
Have a nice day honey (but to stevia as you once wrote it is healthier than sugar: it is not. oc stevia itself is a plant but to get the stevia you can use by cooking there is a lot of chemistry needed. So: healthy? No. Less calories than sugar? You bet!

    1. I know what you mean, and yes it can be an ED thing. As yes, questbars are supposedly 'low in carbs, high protein'. I think they are a great snack, but at the same time i think chocoalte is a good snack as well :) Questbars are very expensive, so i dont understand those who eat them everyday, all the time.

About stevia... well, i guess it all depends what you have for a definition of healthy. I dont think ive said stevia is healthier? I personally think it IS healthier than sugar, but thats just my opinion, it doesnt make me right ;)

    2. Just looked at that tumblr, haha, wow she does eat alot of questbars! And like i said, it can be an ED thing because it is consdiered a 'healthy snack' and she could be scared to eat anything else. Which i think is a pity, because questbars are delicious, but there is so many other foods that are just as delicious, and its finding the balance of all types of food which is importnat!
