Life without Anorexia

My motto is
'Dont let the sadness of your past & the fear of your future ruin the happiness of your present'

My life at the moment is completely different to how it once was. I spent 5 years sick with anorexia nervosia and depression as well as struggling with self harm and overexercising. I spent 2 years in different treatment centres.
And since 2012 i have been declared healthy from my eating disorder.

I have been blogging for 7 years, and my whole journey is written in my posts. I now represent healthy and happiness. I want to show anyone struggling that it is possible to recover, no matter how hard it may seem.

I now blog about recovery, my life, veganism and positivity!

If you have any questions leave them in the comment section as i am much quicker at answering there, otherwise you can always send an email: lifewithoutanorexia@hotmail.com

Treat your body like a friend

You should treat your body like a friend.
You dont tell a friend that they look fat or need to lose weight... so why do you tell yourself that?

When you look in the mirror, pretend your looking at a friend. You dont point out or notice your friends bad qualitys, or if maybe they have a spot one day, or a big nose or something or other.... so why do you do that to yourself.

Pretend your body is your friend. Dont critisize it. Dont harm it.... you dont tell your friends to not eat. Or to self harm. You dont tell your friends that theyre not allowed food, or that they have to do a certain amount of hours exercise each day, otherwise they're not worth a little bit of food?
Why do you tell yourself that.

Why are you so different from everyone else? Why can everyone else eat and live a normal life, but you have to lock yourself away and starve?

Be kind to yourself, like you are to a friend. You treat your friends with kindness and love, you listen to your friends and treat them with respect. So do the same to your body.
Listen to your body and give it the love and nourishment it needs.

Each time you want to starve think like this 'Would i let my friends starve?' and everytime you want to self harm or hurt yourself think like this 'Do i want to hurt my friend? Do i want my friend to hurt themself?'
If you really want that message/thought to stick...

Think of your best friend.... or your mother, or anyone you really love. And think.... would you let them starve? Would you watch as your bestfriend/mother/etc didnt eat anything and lost more and more weight?
Would you let your best friend/mother etc etc self harm and hurt themself? Would you just stand by and watch them hurt?
Do you hurt your friends/family? Tell them awful things and bring them down?
No... (or maybe you do.. what do i know?!) you wouldnt just stand by and watch, as the people you love slowly fade away. As they hurt, as new marks appear on their body.

Think like that.... do you want your friends and family to see you like that? Do you treat your friends and family like you treat your own body?

Take care of yourself and your body, because you only have one body. So treat it right.

  1. I just love coming to your blog every day and finding some new post. It always puts a smile on my face! I don't know, it's just like a daily appointment I wouldn't miss for the world.
You should be REALLY proud of this as I read MANY blogs, but none gives me the same effect :)

Once again, I couldn't agree with you more. We should all love and take care of our bodies. It's a very big achievement, for somebody that have suffered from an eating disorder, to realize this.
